Gabriela Miranda is Legal Partner at BDO Costa Rica, where she leads the Intellectual Property (IP) practice. She has over 21 years of experience in intellectual property law, advising local and international clients on the strategic protection, enforcement, and management of intangible assets.
She has expertise in the registration, opposition, nullification, and cancellation of trademarks, trade names, and advertising signs. Her practice also handles complex administrative procedures involving name changes, assignments, and licensing. Gabriela leads patent development and filing processes, both domestically and internationally, including Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) applications. She is a certified patent writer by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
Her work covers the full spectrum of IP enforcement, including implementation of precautionary legal measures and litigation support. She also specializes in copyright and related rights registration and protection, and frequently advises on contracts related to image rights, publishing, IP licensing and assignment, and sponsorship agreements.
Gabriela has advised clients across various industries such as retail, entertainment, technology, art, and sports—adapting legal solutions to each sector’s needs and risks.
She is a Juris Doctor and a licensed Public Notary. Gabriela earned her master’s degree in Intellectual Property and is an active member of the Costa Rican Bar Association, the National Notary Directorate, the Association of Intellectual Property Professionals of Costa Rica (APPICR), and the International Trademark Association (INTA). In 2024, she was recognized as an IP Leader in Costa Rica by World IP Review Leaders.
